Trajan’s Tablet
Trajan’s Tablet bears an inscription in Latin, engraved in stone, which describes the process of the construction of Trajan’s road almost two thousand years ago.
It can only be reached from the water – in the stretch of the river from Poreč Bay to Tekija and even Kladovo, and there are several places from which cruisers and small boats depart for a mini-cruise. A hiking trail that will lead to the area directly above the sign is currently under construction.
Interestingly, Trajan’s Tablet had to be moved when the level of the Danube rose due to the construction of the Djerdap 1 hydroelectric power plant. The works lasted almost two years and during this time, this piece of stone, weighing several hundred tons, was raised over 20 m.
